We are taking you on a tour of the new passenger terminal in Nis, which will have a capacity of up to one and a half million passengers per year. Watch the video.

The company WD Concord West d.o.o. published a video on Monday that testifies to the progress of the construction of the new terminal building at Constantine the Great Airport in Nis, seen in 80 seconds the final phase of this project and all its aspects, from architectural details to technical challenges.

Works began in March 2022 according to the project of the Bauprojekt studio, and as announced last month, the airport of Nis will put into operation its new passenger terminal for departing flights 1. July 2024.

Up to 1.5 Million Passengers Annually

The new terminal extension will be dedicated to departing passengers and will feature 10 „check in“ counters and eight passport control points. Boarding will take place at 4 gates, each designed to be serviced by a bus that will transport passengers to the aircraft.

The new terminal will have a capacity of up to 1.5 million passengers per year. It will include an airbridge, a baggage sorting facility, as well as new food and beverage outlets and duty-free shops covering over 700 square meters.

The expanded platform will accommodate parking for aircraft at six positions. Incoming passengers will continue to use the old terminal, which is planned for demolition after the new departure terminal is completed. The new terminal will be extended to replace the old building.

The new parking areas for passenger vehicles will have space for 580 cars, including five electric vehicle chargers.

In parallel with this project, as announced from the Airport of Serbia, work is also underway to change the project documentation in order to demolish the existing building and build a new one in its place which will form a functional unit with this one, which is now almost completely built in part.

The entire undertaking in Niš also includes the construction of 1,976 meters of internal roads and total arrangement of 53,900 m² of space on an area of ​​about 80,000 square meters. The new parking areas for passengers will be able to accommodate 580 four-wheelers, with five chargers for electric vehicles.

What is curious about this project is the fact that Constantine the Great Airport during the duration of the mentioned works all the time regularly functioning.
